Rotary District 7120 Interact News August 2026 

August is Rotary Membership Month and even though most Interact Clubs won't be recruiting until September, it is good to have a recruitment plan.  Couple ideas include having a table at the School Club’s recruitment night, usually in September.  Another one we have seen work, is once you have meeting have Interactors bring a friend to the meeting.  Another is bringing a freshman to a meeting and/or service project, that helps build a longer Interact experience.  It is also time to think about planning your Interact year and possibly your Interact Board can get tougher and talk about goals before the school year starts, so you are ready to go.  Always good to review the Interact Club Constitution and Bylaws with the new board.

District Interact Student Council Forming 2026-2027 Interested Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors are eligible to join.  A District Interact Student Council brings together high school age youth leaders to foster collaboration, service, and leadership across local clubs. It acts as a bridge between individual clubs and Rotary, aiming to maximize community impact, develop leadership skills, promote international understanding, and organize district-wide service projects.  If Interested contact Drew Ashley andreww.ashley@gmail.com 

  1. Rotary Program Alumni Community Based Hybrid (in person and zoom) Rotaract Club Forming (Interact, RYLA, School Based Rotaract and other Rotary Program Alumni):    We are starting an Alumni Rotaract to keep in communication with graduating Interactors and RYLA grads as well as other Rotary Alumni.   We are hoping to maintain connection and interaction with our graduating seniors even if they are not in the area for college or beyond, as this will be a hybrid (zoom and in person meeting) club.  There will be planned social and service events throughout the next Rotary year including summer and holidays moving forward.  Even if they do not join the Rotaract club, we would like them to get us their contact information to keep them updated on what the club is doing so they can join in on activities.  Please have interested young adults contact Drew Ashley  andreww.ashley@gmail.com

Rotary Youth Exchange: Needs Host Families:   There is a real need for local families to host an exchange student from another country. Also, it is a real opportunity for High School Students (Interactors) to experience another country's culture, and gain friendships abroad for a short- or longer-term exchange.    For more information https://rotarydistrict7120youthexchange.org/

NEW GENERATIONS SERVICE EXCHANGE is a customizable, short-term international exchange program for university students and young professionals up to age 30, designed to help participants connect their professional aspirations with impactful humanitarian projects. Through NGSE, individuals can explore new cultures, build professional skills, and develop a lifelong appreciation for international understanding and peace.  More information can be found at https://www.ngse.net/  

  1. Interact Club Scoreboard (Active and Terminated) 

  1. 29/29 Advisors of Active Interact clubs show listed with Rotary International, YAY!  Rotary International has filled in old advisors.  That means possibly the correct advisors are currently not listed and need to updated as soon as possible.  This needs to be updated yearly as soon as possible and recommended by July 1 (See 6b below)   If your advisor is listed 2026-2027 they are likely correct yet still check going into this year. 

  1. 29/ (guessing 40+) Interact clubs show Active with RI the rest have been Terminated with RI and need to recharter that are indeed Active clubs. They did not, yearly send in their Interact Advisors contact information (See 6a below to recharter) 

  1. To check if you club is in good standing (See 6c below) 

 

  1. Rechartering Active, Terminated Interact Clubs with RI / Updating Active Interact Club Advisors with RI and 7120 District Interact: Thank you for your progress in rechartering Active Interact Clubs that were Terminated by Rotary International for not updating their Interact Advisor yearly. 

  1. Then current Active Interact Clubs, please update your Interact Advisor yearly in July - September using this online form.  https://my.rotary.org/en/report-your-interact-club-advisor  14 Active Interact Clubs have yet to update their Interact Advisor.  You will need your Interact ID (available in the status report below) and your Rotary ID if applicable is available in ClubRunner in your profile. 

  1. To check your Interact Clubs status (please check your existing Interact Club shows Active and if an Interact Advisor has been updated), please visit https://rotary7120.org/sitepage/interact  Scroll down to Files on the left-hand side and select 7120 Interact Club Status (You will need a ClubRunner login to view this page as it has Rotarians contact information).  

  1. Please also send Advisor contact information to District 7120 Interact at  andreww.ashley@gmail.com This is so we can keep you informed of information about Interact and send updates from Rotary International. 

  1. Interact Student/Advisor Learning Opportunities Rotary Learning Center: Service- Learning Manuals for Interactors and Advisors are available.  This gives Interactors a guide to learning about Service Projects and Service in their Communities and Worldwide.  Students16 and above and Non-Rotary Advisors can sign up for a My Rotary account https://my.rotary.org/ (Information is not saved by RI after registration if they are under 18).  Once signed in, Advisors and Interactors can go to this link for online training and handbooks.   

  1. Interactors also have their own version of the Interact Handbook https://my.rotary.org/en/document/interact-handbook-guide-for-interactors  

Please celebrate Interact club accomplishments, including advertising in the Grapevine and 7120 Rotary Facebook page (Has to be sent to Linda Kohl) or Interact District 7120 Public Facebook page send to Drew Ashley at andreww.ashley@gmail.com  Make sure your communities know what these young leaders are doing
