Dear Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors, and Friends of Rotary,

Every Rotarian Every YearIn October I visited the following clubs: Mount Morris, Greece, Lima, Rochester Southeast, Penfield, Pittsford, Wellsville, Honeoye Lake, ROC City, Monroe County South, University of Rochester Rotaract, Canisteo, Irondequoit, and Waterloo.

We held our monthly Governor’s Tract meeting in Canandaigua, the Multi-District President-Elect Training Seminar planning meeting in Syracuse, the Leadership Development Seminar in Mount Morris, the District Strategic Planning Workshop Team meeting via conference call, the District Advisory Council meeting in Geneseo, the District Nominating Committee meeting in Canandaigua, the One Rotary Summit in Canandaigua, and the Council of Governors luncheon in Geneseo.

On World Polio Day I had the privilege of serving as master of ceremonies at Newark Rotary’s “Service Above Self” Awards Dinner, where Rotarian Pat Albrecht and Newark-Wayne Community Hospital were honored, and Red Jacket Rotarians Vern Hecker, Linda Hecker, and Rose Foster presented a check on behalf of their club for $2500 to the PolioPlus Campaign of The Rotary Foundation!

There was fun in fundraising with Geneseo Rotary’s Octoberfest, Ontario-Walworth’s Charities Dinner, East Rochester Rotary’s Annual Pasta Dinner, the Hope Hall Gala with Rochester AM Rotarians, Perry Rotary’s Craft Show Booth, the Laurel House Gala with Rotarians across Wayne County, and the Cash/Cline Benefit for Camp Haccamo.

Geneva Rotary was presented a certificate from Rotary International on October 16 marking the 100th Anniversary of their club being chartered, and Spencerport Rotary hosted a dinner for the Rotary Friendship Exchange team visiting from Brazil.

November is The Rotary Foundation (TRF) month.  The Foundation is the vehicle for Rotary to do good in the world.  There are global grants, district grants, and the PolioPlus Campaign to eradicate polio.  I encourage “Every Rotarian, Every Year” to make a contribution to TRF.  Sustaining Members contribute $100 annually and Paul Harris Society Members $1000 each year.  TRF is a four-star charity, very worthy of your generosity.  Make sure your club is represented at the upcoming Grant Management Seminars so that every club qualifies to get some funding from TRF for projects in your community!

Rotary Leadership Institute is on Saturday, November 16, from 7:30am-3:30pm at the RIT Inn & Conference Center, 5257 W Henrietta Rd., Henrietta.  The fee is $100, payable at the door.  Advance registration is requested at RLINEA.org   This is an informational seminar for all Rotarians.  I encourage you to attend.

As we approach the Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend, give thanks for the opportunity to be a Rotarian, and make the most of that opportunity.

Travel safely,
DG Dave Hannan
