As I write this month's newsletter, I am attending the NAYEN (North American Youth Exchange Network) Conference in Vancouver with Gretchen DiNardo and Pam Schlierf. This is a fantastic opportunity to immerse ourselves in the youth services community, reconnect with familiar faces, and forge new connections. I talk a lot about my passion for youth and the joy I get from empowering and engaging our future leaders. Our District Youth programs are thriving and it is a testament to the dedication, enthusiasm, and hard work of everyone involved, from organizers and volunteers to the youth participants themselves.
Rotary Youth Opportunities, provided by Rotary International, have several positive impacts on young people and the communities they serve.
Leadership Development:
Rotary programs offer youth opportunities to develop leadership skills through various activities such as leadership training, community service projects, and involvement in Rotary-sponsored events. This helps them become effective leaders in their schools, communities, and future careers.
Cultural Exchange and Understanding:
Rotary youth exchange programs facilitate cultural exchange experiences, allowing young people to immerse themselves in different cultures, languages, and customs. This fosters greater global understanding, tolerance, and empathy among participants.
Personal Growth and Development:
Participation in Rotary youth programs often leads to personal growth and development. Youth are encouraged to step out of their comfort zones, take on new challenges, and develop confidence, resilience, and a sense of responsibility.
Service to Others: Rotary emphasizes service above self, and youth programs instill the value of giving back to the community. Through volunteering, fundraising, and service projects, young people learn the importance of making a positive impact on the lives of others and contributing to the greater good.

Overall, Rotary Youth Opportunities play a crucial role in empowering young people to become responsible, compassionate, and engaged citizens who are committed to making a positive difference in the world.
