Jeff and Diane Krans have been a Rotary family since 1981, when Jeff joined the Penn Yan Rotary Club. Jeff has served the Club as President and Secretary. Diane joined the Bath Rotary Club in 2003, and is currently a member of the Penn Yan Rotary Club. From 2007-2009 Diane was a member of the Northern Lake George Rotary Club in District 7190. Their children, Kimberly and Jacob, were both active in the Penn Yan Interact Club when they were in high school. The Penn Yan Rotary Club recognized Jeff twice as Rotarian of the Year; he has earned the Four Avenues of Service Award; and, his club honored him as a Paul Harris Fellow.
Over the years, Jeff and Diane have hosted half a dozen exchange students; they have enjoyed hosting visiting Governors-Elect in the Milt Matthews program; and, their daughter visited Austria in a Rotary summer exchange. Jeff was the sponsoring Rotarian Committee Chair for both Penn Yan Interact in 1990 and Keuka College Rotaract in 2004. Long-term relationships with so many talented and dedicated young people have created lasting memories.
Jeff and Diane worked with a group of District 7120 Rotarians to create our District’s Oratorical Contest on Ethics in 2005 and are very pleased with the continued success of the program. Both actively supported the RYLA program for well over ten years. Jeff’s service to the District includes Chair of the RYLA program, Vocational Service Chair, Chair of the Oratorical Contest, and an Assistant Governor from 2006-2009.
Jeff and Diane are multiple Paul Harris Fellows, and Benefactors of the Rotary Foundation. Outside of Rotary, they enjoy outdoor activities, travel, and a little gardening. Diane is a quilter and relaxes with needlework and sewing.
